Ue is short for Uenuku who became a rainbow searching for his loved one.
Wai is water, when the sunlight hits a raindrop, the light is reflected and forms a rainbow.
The meaning of UEWAI, come from a brother and sister relationship.
U for Ru, Wai for Moewai, and E for Aterea which is our family name.
Our full names are Ru Aterea brother to Moewai Aterea sister.
Ru Aterea is a I.T Graphics designer.
Moewai Aterea is a carver, weaver and designer.
Together we put our skills together after many years apart, working for other people.
Our designs talk about our culture, who we are and where we come from, here in Aotearoa.
We are Taranaki Iwi and Ngāti Maniapoto decendants.
And we look forward to creating and designing our Māori culture to you all.
